The events of September 11, 2001, changed everything and forced the Frenchwoman of Comorian origin to string together a series of odd jobs. Tired of that life, a few years later Imany threw herself wholeheartedly into music. It turned out to be a wise choice for the young woman, who can now boast of having composed two albums (The Shape of a Broken Heart in 2011 and The Wrong Kind of War this year) and a film soundtrack (Sous la jupe des filles). Don’t be misled by the ubiquitous remix of Don’t Be Shy: Imany’s music is organic, made of strings and percussion.
